New Delhi: Several protests were held in Delhi in recent days against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. During these demonstrations, female students and women allegedly faced brutality at the hands of Delhi Police personnel and individuals linked to Hindutva organisations. Several reports and videos have surfaced showing alleged use of force against women and students, along with instances of inappropriate conduct.

Rahul Gandhi met some of the women and students who were reportedly affected by these incidents. He shared a video of the meeting on his official X account. In the video, the women and students appear deeply distressed as they recount their experiences and express concern over the current situation in the country.

Sharing the video, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Sexual harassment, pulling at clothes and attacks on private parts… The brutality of Delhi Police against female students and women raising their voices for democracy is shamefully crossing all limits.”

He further wrote, “All of this is part of a conspiracy to silence voices—to frighten and humiliate people so much that they no longer dare to raise questions.”

In the video, one woman recounts how she was suddenly and forcibly dragged, leaving her with no opportunity even to adjust her clothes. A female student said it appeared that some people were looking for opportunities to harass women.

After listening to the accounts of the women and students, Rahul Gandhi expressed deep sorrow over their experiences and assured them of his support during this difficult time.

In a social media post, Rahul Gandhi alleged, “Modi and Shah know that the day they lose power, their era of arbitrary actions will come to an end. This fear reaches the police and manifests itself in the form of violence against the country’s youth and women.”

The Congress party also issued a strong response, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were attempting to suppress public voices through police excesses.

“However, this is no longer possible. The people of the country know the truth, and the BJP government cannot intimidate them. We will neither be afraid nor bow down. We will continue to fight against injustice,” the party said.

The Congress also shared the video of Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with the women and students on its official X account and released several photographs.

In one of its posts, the party stated, “Delhi Police has crossed all limits of brutality. Women and female students who raised their voices for democracy have been subjected to oppression. This is a conspiracy to silence their voices.”

The post further alleged, “Modi and Shah know that the day they lose power, their era of arbitrary actions will come to an end.”
